The weather here in Minnesota has been just crap over the last few weeks, I mean it’s not snowing so I am thankful for that but we have had so much rain and cool weather that it has slowed my cycling training a bit. Today however the training program continued with just a great day out for cycling, could not really ask for a better day. I rode today with my neighbor again Joe, this guy is fast. For the first 5 miles I could barely hang on and was dropped several times on some medium sized climbs. For the most part I was “almost” able to hang in their their during these first 5 miles or so except on the climbs.
I checked my average speed at the five mile point and I was over 17 miles per hour which for that distance is fairly quick for Tour Guy. We continued to ride a bit and by now my legs were somewhat shot simply from testing them a bit, (not that I minded the quick start) but it did slow my speed over the last 15 miles of our ride. At this point I was content to ride at my own pace and enjoy the day. Sunshine, hardly much of a breeze and lower 70’s … just perfect. I do know I am getting into better shape so that is good thing and I enjoy getting outside and getting some exercise.
