Tour de France Pictures

Tour de France Pictures

The Tour de France has always been hugely popular in Europe and now, with the dominance of Lance Armstrong, the race has achieved a high level of interest in the United States as well.  The race is spectacular to watch and I’m sure would be unbelievable to see in person but for most of us that will never happen.  The best we can hope for is to see some great Tour de France pictures to help us remember the event.  Luckily for us, photojournalists from around the world dedicate three weeks each year to following along with the racers, usually on motorcycles, and they manage to snap some of the most intense Tour de France pictures the world has ever seen along the way.

Besides the Tour de France pictures that will end up in all the sports magazines, there will also be a large selection available in framing stores and on the Internet.  As a matter of fact, you’ll be able to find entire books that are full of pictures of the current Tour de France race as well as those that have taken place in the past.  These show not only the incredible action shots of the riders as they race along the course but they cover the beautiful French countryside as well.  These pictures are every bit as impressive.  If it’s a picture book you’re looking for, finding one at your local bookstore should be easy.  If not, browse the web.  It probably offers a much larger selection to choose from anyway.

In recent years, some of more popular Tour de France pictures have been of Lance Armstrong in various stages of the race as well as his seven victory celebrations.  You may not believe it but these are not the only pictures that are out there.  That’s because plenty of races took place before the Lance Armstrong era.  Many of the pictures are in full, vivid color.  However, this is not your only choice.  You’ll find pictures that have been re-printed in a black and white format that look more old-fashioned or vintage, in style.  And you’ll find others that have been animated.

What can you expect when you search for Tour de France pictures?  Here are just a few of the incredible views you’ll find.  How about an image of Dave Watson jumping (on his bike) over the tour peleton?  This amazing bit of history occurred during the Alpe d’huez stage.  You’ll find countless images of bicycle crashes involving multiple riders. And although such an image is not necessarily funny, it is an integral part of the race and it’s one that’s worth putting on display!

Colorful images of racers gathering at the start with spectators surrounding the area are available as are pictures of maps displaying each year’s Tour de France racing route.  You’ll find Tour de France pictures of racers breathlessly ascending steep mountain sides and pedaling along coastal regions.  You’ll find picture after picture of bike riders sharing road space with ordinary everyday people who are simply going about their business.

Winners, losers, special events, tickets, group photos, photos of your favorite racer, pictures of racing in rainstorms and on bright blue days and so many other Tour de France pictures are available right now.  All you have to do is pick your favorites from this impressive collection of images, but believe me, that will not be an easy task.

Again, nothing is better than viewing this amazing race in person.  But when that’s not an option, you might have to settle for one or two really cool Tour de France pictures hung where all can see!
