Tom Boonen Wins Stage Two!

Belgium ace Tom Boonen won today’s Tour de France stage (stage 2) in a exciting sprint to the finish! As usual the sprint finish had me and Amanda screaming (move … look out, and of course … where is Lance)! Just like yesterday this was a fun stage to watch, for this early in the tour. Last year it seamed like it took forever for the tour to get started due to the fact that the mountain stages were not incorperated into the tour until later in the course.

This year I think the Le Tour organisers got it figured out! With the “it’s not a prologue” time trial kick’in things off tactics were much more in play right from the get go. Today my boy Thomas Voeckler riding for entire team made up of French pro cyclists was looking to repeat his performance of last year. By the time OLN’s coverage was underway their was already a break away of riders up the road some 4 minutes containing Voeckler!

What makes this even more exciting for me is the fact that the young lad from France is part of my fantasy cycling squad. However this bone head has been so busy with tour updates and stopping by other tour blogs (more on that later) I failed to select my 9 riders for today’s stage!

Voeckler and about four other riders stayed away until about 10k or so, but like so many major tours the sprinters had all their men at the front of the peloton for the last 30k and brought the young French man back.

Not however until he was able to secure the :polkadot:

Nice work Voeckler, your lookin good again this year buddy!
