Tenth Tour de France Win For Robbie McEwen

Yesterday’s stage four of the Tour de France was won again by Aussie sprinting ace Robbie McEwen who leads the green jersey sprint competition by 11 points. McEwen has been spot on over these first days in the Tour with near perfect timing and an incredible jump that makes him the best pure sprinter in the pro peleton. McEwen crossed the line ahead of Freire, Hushovd (who was deregulate for forcing another rider into the barriers) and Boonen who once again missed his the chance at a stage win.

Robbie was quite pleased with his win as it was the riders tenth stage win in the Tour de France, a feat few riders have matched. McEwen mentioned “The team is happy and the win goes to Fred Rodriguez, who crashed out yesterday.”

Movers and shakers included Egoi Martinez of the Discovery Channel who was in the day’s breakaway and ranked up a bunch of sprint points and time bonuses moving the Spanish rider into 5th place overall on GC. Other riders who were in the days break included Bradley Wiggins, Laurent Lefevre and Christophe Mengin. While the break-away crew worked well together it was not enough to spoil the sprinters day as the peleton shut it down within the last 5 kilometers from the end.
