Robbie McEwen Wins Stage Two - Hushovd Back In Yellow

Yesterday’s stage two of the Tour de France was a day for the sprinters (usually the case in the first week of racing) and Thor Hushovd, Tom Boonen and Robbie McEwen battled it out for the win. As the stage got underway Thor Hushovd was quick to take back the yellow jersey with a lesson learned from George Hincapie. Hushovd out sprinted Tom Boonen at the first time bonus and picked up two seconds, which was enough to put him back in the yellow jersey.

Sprinting powerhouse Robbie McEwen who many consider to have the fastest “jump” in the pro cycling peleton won the day beating Tom Boonen who seamed to have an off day loosing out in not only the final sprint but also an intermediate sprint as well. The weather played a roll as the tempatures was very hot, McEwen mentioned with the heat it is important to drink a lot of fluids, It makes a long hard day. McEwen said.

McEwen now leads the green jersey points competition three points ahead of Thor Hushovd, top 10 results for the green jersey below.
