Over the last several years Germanies Andreas Kloden has stood by his former team captain Jan Ullrich in an effort to help the German star win his second Tour de France (that was never to be). However this year Kloden has signed with the new pro cycling team “Astana” which was awarded pro team status late in 2006.
As the 2007 cycling season progresses it will be interesting to see how Kloden does over all as he will most likely share the leadership duties with Alexander Vinokourov and several other top Astana riders. Koden has shown signs of greatness in the past but was always more comfortable (or so it seamed anyway) working for his boss Jan.
Overall the newly formed team looks quite impressive with other notable riders such as:
- Matthias Kessler
- Eddy Mazzoleni
- Paolo Savoldelli
Tour guy is thinking Team Astana could offer up some surprises during the tour this year – keep your eyes peeled for the boys in light blue this year.
