So about two weeks ago I went out and purchased a new Trek road bike and have enjoyed being back in the saddle again, although it has hurt quite a bit. I am not sure why after such pain I would get excited about riding just a day or two later but that has been the case.
Back in my old neighborhood of Minnetonka, Minnesota I have done an easy 12 mile loop several times to get the feeling back. Last Monday I felt so darn good I went for a ride in the morning (riding my 12 mile loop into Excelsior) and then rode again with some riders riding out of Eriks Bike Shop in St. Louis Park.
That second ride was a big, big mistake. First off their were four other riders and they all compete category 4 and 5 and each had about 1000 miles into their legs. What was I thinking? LOL
After the ride my big toe got infected and it kept me off my new Trek bike for about a week. Today is lovely and I am looking forward to looping around lower Lake Minnetonka ….
I will let you know how it went, for far this year I have rode about 50 miles.
