Voight, look’in good in yellow!
Jens Voigt had an excellent ride today that saw the German power-house clinch the yellow jersey after escaping the peleton on stage 9 (which was also a real ball buster of a mountain stage with 6 climbs). Voigt who rides for Team CSC came in about 3.5 minutes before the main pack or peleton that included GC contenders Armstrong, Vinokourov, Kloden and Basso among others.
Lance Armstrong had commented several days ago that the team might want to loan the “jersey” out for several days to take some pressure off the team as they head into the real mountain stage in the coming days and weeks. Handing the yellow jersey over to CSC is an excellent move as the strong team will defend as long as possible (note that Voight is not much of a climber in the big mountains).
As the stage was ending I was paging through my “tour program” to check out the remaining stages to determine where Armstrong will lay down the gauntlet so to speak. My guess is either stage 10 which has a dam nasty mountain top finish or this coming Saturdays stage “Axe” which also has some very hard climbs and finishes on a mountain top.

Hats off Jens, nice work!
