Friends, get ready! In less than a week the first of the “grand tours” kicks off and let me tell ya… it is one tough race! This years Giro course has had many of the big sprinters “voicing” their dissaproval while the climbers were all smiles The Giro gets started in Belgium on Saturday May 6th, where the riders will spend their first three or four days. As with most tours the first day will feature a prologue time trial of just over 6 kilometers with a gradual hill smack in the middle. Nothing that will get the pro’s out of their big chain ring but enough to dampen the specialist hopes of pink.
Now all this great racing has many people wondering where they will be able to pick up tv coverage of the race. Here is the skinny, thought the month OLN will feature the Giro on their cyclism Sundays program. One day of cycling tv coverage is not nearly enough for Tour Guy and I am sure many of you feel the same way. Thank god for the guys at cycling.tv, they have teamed up with OLN this year and will be offering a daily broadcast of the Giro Monday through Saturday via the web.
I subscribed last week to cycling.tv’s premium service for a mere $19.95 and was able to watch all the action of the Tour de Romandie and will be able to catch the Dauphiné Liberé and the Tour de Suisse as well as other great races thought the season. I have no problem spending another 20 bucks for daily coverage of the Giro and after spending last week watching the Tour de Romandie have no problem recommending it to others that have the time. The picture quality is very good, and the feeds offer english commentary as well.
Of course if your unable to subscribe you will be able to pick up daily race reports here at yellow-jersey.net!
