Floyd Landis Wins The 2006 Tour de France

What an amazing race and effort by the American Floyd Landis, this years Tour had more up’s and downs than most of the tours over the past four or five years combined. Landis started strong and rode a sensible race throughout the early mountains and time trials only to loose more than 10 minutes on the second day in the alps. However not one to give up on himself or his team Floyd rode one of the most impressive day’s I think I have ever seen in the Tour de France, breaking away in the day’s first climb with nearly the entire day ahead of him.

It was such a gutsy move that the peloton either could not or would not go with him, I am sure many of them thought it was surely “suicide”… of course Floyd took back nearly all the time he lost in the previous day and then went on to ride an impressive time trial on Saturday to capture the yellow jersey!

Bravo Floyd!
