Todays finial stage (a 20 kilometer time trial) was quite a battle filled with drama, could Contador hold on for the overall win or would Alejando Valverde one up Contador in the ITT and take the overall victory? As the race unfolded neither of these scenarios played out, rather Cadel Evans showed his form and power in the race of truth and was able to come from 24 seconds behind (in the overall time classification) to take the stage win and the overall classification. Evans average speed over the 20k course was nearly 47 kilometer per hour!
Last year in the Tour de France Evans looked very promising in several stages, makes me wonder if he is ready to take it to the next level and go for the win at a “grand tour”.
